Tamper Tantrum episode the 5th October 1, 2009 / / Uncategorized
Comments:
This was possibly the best episode yet. I loved the final section of this episode with the reverse vacuum pot and the mojo.
It would have been really interesting for you to have split off into pairs, and one pair adjusting for taste, and the other adjusting for perfect mojo readings, and then reconvening to compare results.
I would imagine that the results would be pretty similar for a familiar brew method, since it is hard not to optimise taste to match your memory, but it sounds like there might be a chance to break free from the “square of familiarity” when working with am unfamiliar method based on these results.
Whether this would produce a good result or not is of course another matter.
Not that I am trying to encourage a 3 hour episode mind you!
Loved the latest episode, enough information to make the head spin, but great banter and a very enjoyable watch.
CSIRO is the ‘Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Research Organization’. I used to work with some of these guys and basically they’re a bunch of mad scientists who work for the Aussie government, good bunch though. Now what they’re doing experimenting with coffee growing in Byron Bay is another matter
